DARITA’S STORY
In 2022, Darita’s parents brought her to Blue Haven School and requested her admission into the first grade. However, a brief quiz revealed that she had been taught almost nothing. She knew no English and could not even respond to “What is your name?” She didn’t know numbers, nor could she write, even in her native language of Hindi.
Ricky and our Blue Haven team persuaded the parents not to overwhelm their daughter but to let her start in LKG (Lower Kindergarten). Our LKG teacher worked hard to help Darita begin to learn. By the first parent-teacher meeting, Darita had learned the entire English alphabet, and her parents were delighted. She is in the first grade and can read, write, and speak English and Hindi. She is so happy and a very responsible young lady, so much so that the teacher made her the class monitor.
GETTING CLOSE!
With the development of the second floor, the facility will qualify for the highest accreditation given to primary schools. This, in turn, will help the school grow and serve more students, with the eventual goal of generating additional revenues to support and nurture orphaned and abandoned children. When that happens, we will not only be providing excellent education in a Christian environment but also be rescuing children who otherwise would be trafficked or abused, and we’ll be doing it sustainably through funding generated locally!
As of this year, the second floor is nearing completion. I realize it has taken longer than expected. We are within the average cost of a public building in India. We are deeply grateful to all of you who have contributed to this final push to the construction finish line.
