Too much water in the wrong place can be disastrous, but too little water — or the inability to transport it where it’s needed — can be just as crippling. We’re now preparing our fifth Himalayan water system, designed to provide more than just drinking water. We’ve installed over 250 hand pumps in the flatlands, with many more on the way.
This Giving Tuesday, we’re focusing on water access for all.
A donation of $2,600 can fund a hand pump that serves an entire village. However, there’s more to this story: in many communities, existing pumps are often located on land owned by “high caste” families, who frequently harass and exclude “low caste” individuals from using them. This means a vital resource remains out of reach for those who need it most. This discrimination escalates when people in these communities come to know Christ and establish a church, leading to even greater exclusion. Christians are frequently denied access to water, forcing them to travel to other villages, enduring extreme hardship to meet this basic need.
When WIN installs a hand pump in these situations, we intentionally place it on Christian property, ensuring that both Christians and “low caste” villagers can access the water freely and without conflict. The well dedication becomes a joyful celebration, where many hear the gospel for the first time. Through this simple act of providing water, the love of Christ is made visible, and the gospel reaches even more lives as people witness His compassion in action.
We have numerous water-well proposals ready to go—now all we need are sponsors. For $2,600, you can fund the installation of a deep well and hand pump, providing a village with pure, clean water year-round.
